Engineers Compression Systems, Vapor-Cycle Thermodynamics, and Precision Mechanical Components for Next-Gen Commercial HVAC Solutions
Join Carrier’s Mechanical Center of Excellence (MCOE) as an Engineering Intern within the Compression Group in East Syracuse, NY. Operating part-time (10 hours per week) during the Fall 2026 semester, you will apply fundamental mechanical design principles and thermodynamics to develop and optimize HVAC&R compression technology. You will work on centrifugal, rotary, screw, and scroll compressors while utilizing AI tools to streamline engineering workflows and resolve real-world field issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical design and structural analysis of compressor components, including screw rotors, shaft seals, pistons, bearings, and pressure castings.
- Execute vapor-cycle refrigeration thermodynamic modeling and performance analysis.
- Collaborate with lab technicians to construct, execute, and analyze laboratory testing plans for compressor prototypes.
- Document engineering workflows, design guidelines, and testing procedures in Standard Work repositories.
- Apply AI tools and analytical methods to optimize engineering processes and troubleshoot field performance issues.
